The Praxis of Black Leadership in the Twenty-First Century

The frequently decried absence of Black leaders in the U.S. is a misnomer. What
we have is a dearth of visionary Black leaders. We must understand our place in
the world, a place marked by race. African leaders have a responsibility to define that marker. This article claims as members of the race, all the world’s populations of African-descended people. The leaders of these populations must be distinguished from other African-descended leaders who are institutional leaders.
It is incumbent upon Black leaders to articulate visions which can be realized and
the means for realizing them. One way of doing that is rooted in the world-wide
African presence.
