Abstract
This article presents the reflections of three Afro-Brazilian women deeply
involved in Brazilian education and the Brazilian Black Movement on their first
trip to Africa. They attended the Seventh World Social Forum (WSF) held in
Nairobi, Kenya in 2007. There they participated in forums; mixed with daily
workers on the streets, neighborhoods, living spaces and social venues of Nairobi. They were deeply impressed by the schisms of social class—including that represented by the richest community of the African diaspora—in North America.
